What is the bingo law in PA?

A: The Pennsylvania Bingo Law (the Law), 10 P.S. §§301-308.1, was passed in 1981. The Law allows certain nonprofit associations, known as “Associations,” to conduct Bingo for the purpose of raising funds for “Charitable” and “Civic” purposes.

All costs must be reimbursed to the Board. The application fee for a 5-year Gaming Employee Permit is $350.00. The renewal application fee is $200.00.

Associations which conduct bingo during one period each year for not more than three (3) consecutive days shall pay a $15.00 annual licensing fee.

Small Games of Chance licenses are issued through your County Treasurer's Office. Each eligible organization must complete and submit an Eligible Organization Games of Chance Application to the county in which the organization is based.

Cost. A non-refundable application fee of $20 is applied to the license fee. The balance of the license fee is due upon application approval. If you renew your license more than 60 days after the due date, you will be charged 1.5% of the license fee for each month since the license expired.

The Pennsylvania Crimes Code provides that all forms of gambling are illegal unless the Pennsylvania Legislature specifically authorizes the gambling activity by statute.
