In Indiana employers are required to purchase workers' compensation coverage if they employ one or more workers. Sole Proprietors, Partners and LLC Members are all excluded from coverage, but have the option to be included. Corporate Officers are included in coverage, but may elect to included.

In the state of Missouri you are required to carry workers' compensation insurance if you have five or more employees, unless you are in the construction industry, then you must carry workers' compensation insurance if you have one or more employees.

Does an employer have to carry workers' comp insurance? Generally, "yes," but there are exceptions. As a general rule, firms with five or more employees must be covered, although contractors with even one employee must also buy coverage.

To be exempt from workers' compensation, an applicant or licensee must submit this form to CSLB, certifying under penalty of perjury that he or she does not employ anyone in a manner that is subject to the workers' compensation laws of California. (See Business and Professions Code Section 7125.)

In the state of Missouri, any employer with five or more employees and any employer in the construction industry with one or more employees is required to maintain workers' compensation coverage for its employees.

An employer who knowingly fails to insure its workers' compensation liabilities is guilty of a class A misdemeanor and may be liable to the state of Missouri for a penalty of up to three times the annual premium or up to fifty thousand dollars, whichever amount is greater. A subsequent violation is a class E felony.

Railroad, postal, and maritime workers are covered under federal laws and not by Missouri Workers' Compensation Laws.
