Individuals may file an appeal if they disagree with a trial court's decision. You must file a Notice of Appeal with both the Indiana Court of Appeals Clerk to begin the appeals process. The filing fee is $250. If you need copies of any portion of the trial court file, make your request within the Notice of Appeal.

Two copies of the notice of appeal must be filed with the clerk of the criminal court in which the sentence was imposed. One copy of the notice of appeal must be served on the prosecutor. The notice of appeal must be filed with the proper clerk and served on the prosecutor within 30 days of the sentence date.

To appeal a judgment, a party must file a notice of appeal under Rule 8 no later than 30 days after entry of the judgment from which the appeal is taken, except as otherwise provided in this Rule or unless the law provides a different time. (b) Time for Filing a Notice of Cross-Appeal.

In a criminal case a notice of appeal by the defendant shall be filed with the clerk of the trial court within 42 days (6 weeks) after pronouncement of the sentence, provided that the notice of appeal may be oral, as provided in Rule 3(a)(2).
