What is the income limit for the Wisconsin Homestead Credit?

You are a legal resident of Wisconsin for all of 2022. You are 18 years of age or older on December 31, 2022. Your household income was less than $24,680 for 2022. You meet one of the following conditions: o You (or your spouse, if married) have earned income during the year.

Persons age 65 or older on December 31, 2021, are allowed an additional personal exemption deduction of $250. Retirees age 62 or older or who are disabled and are full-year residents of Wisconsin may qualify for homestead credit if they meet certain conditions.

This is a tax credit that can be claimed on your Wisconsin income tax return. You can get a credit for part of the rent or property taxes you paid in that tax year. It is a credit against the tax you paid and it is not refundable. This means you can't be refunded more than you paid in taxes.

At least one owner of the property must be at least 65 years of age.
