You must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to be eligible. To apply for a HOPE scholarship, you must fill out the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You do not need to complete any additional applications, the HOPE scholarship will be offered to TN residents who meet the qualifications.

Effective for the fall 2022 semester, students who are considered independent for financial aid purposes, per the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), may qualify for a lottery scholarship of up to $2,850.00 per semester. A student must meet residency, financial need, and academic requirements to qualify.

The HOPE Scholarship for nontraditional age students is established and funded from the net proceeds of the state lottery and awarded to independent students as determined by the FAFSA application and who has enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at an eligible four-year postsecondary institution.

Student must be classified as a TN resident and admitted as In-state by UTC Admissions. Student's adjusted gross income (combined with spouse, if applicable) must be $36,000 or less as determined by the FAFSA for the academic year awarded.

Tennessee HOPE Scholarship is a $4000 per year scholarship awarded to qualifying Tennessee residents.

Award Amount: Up to $6000/yr for 4 year institutions; Up to $3000/yr for 2 year inst. Students must have a minimum of a 21 ACT OR overall GPA of 3.0. No income requirements. Students must enroll within 16 months of high school graduation at an eligible institution.

Have been a Tennessee resident for at least one year preceding the date of application for the grant; Complete the FAFSA and be deemed an independent student.

To be eligible, you must first complete the FAFSA. You must also list UT as your first choice for the HOPE Scholarship on the Tennessee Student Assistance Corp. (TSAC) Portal to receive payment.
