What is a CN23 customs declaration?

The CN23 is a customs form used when sending gifts and goods abroad worth more than £270 with Royal Mail.

CN22 and CN23 are customs declaration documents that detail the contents of a package being sent outside of the UK when being sent through the Royal Mail. They assist the process customs go through when checking packages, and they detail important information about the contents of anything being posted.

The CN22 and CN23 customs decorations are therefore required for international shipping outside the EU. Still, international shipping, including Norway, Great Britain, and Switzerland, requires the CN22 and CN23 customs forms. As a result, the forms contain information about the goods you are shipping.

What's the CN22 form? The CN22 form, also known as the CN22 label, is an international document used to indicate the value of a shipment, regardless of what it contains (documentation, objects, etc.). Currently, the CN22 is required for customs worldwide.

Whether you use a CN22 form or a CN23 depends on the weight and value of the package. Packages weighing up to two kilograms with a value of up to €425 require a CN22 customs declaration. The CN23 is used for packages weighing from two to 20 kilograms with a value of €425 or more.

Which form do I need? 'Old' versions of the CN22 and CN23 will no longer be accepted, only the forms outlined in the table below will be accepted. Please use this form if you are sending goods valued at less than £270 and using any of the following services: Special Delivery to the Channel Islands ONLY.

CN22 is the same 6x4 size and it is produced as one file including RM label and CN22, so will be printed to the same printer that RM labels are getting printed from.

You will need to complete a customs declaration (CN22 or CN23) for any gifts and goods sent abroad. Items sent without a customs declaration (CN22 or CN23) or an incorrectly or partially completed declaration may be delayed or returned to sender. Items containing Personal Correspondence do not require a CN22 or CN23.
