Call 800-252-7031, option 1. Workers' compensation is an insurance program managed by the State of Texas.

If you switch jobs, your benefits will change depending on the plan you are enrolled in. The law allows you to change jobs without penalty as long as you are still receiving workers' compensation benefits from your current employment.

Designated doctor means a doctor appointed by mutual agreement of the parties or by the division to recommend a resolution of a dispute as to the medical condition of an injured employee.

If you opt in the network, that means your employees must see a network provider if they are injured on the job. If employers choose the out-of-network option, your injured employees can seek treatment from the WorkWell, TX network or any doctor who will treat them under the Texas Workers' Compensation rules.

What is a designated doctor? A designated doctor (DD) is selected by the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) to resolve questions about an injured employee's medical condition or resolve a dispute about a work-related injury or illness.

A person reaches maximum medical improvement when the person's condition is unlikely to improve with or without further medical treatment. Some individuals reach MMI after recovering fully from their injuries.

Texas workers' compensation law allows employers to opt out of carrying workers' compensation insurance, which covers medical expenses, physical therapy expenses and lost wages for employees who get sick or injured at work.

If you were injured before your employer started to use a workers' compensation network, you must choose a treating doctor from the network's provider list. You have 14 days from the date you got notice that you're in a network to choose a treating doctor.
