It's nearly all correspondence which is NOT legal or privileged correspondence. All general incoming correspondence sent to an inmate must contain a full return address with a first and last name of the sender. It must also contain the full and correct inmate name and inmate number.

All general incoming correspondence needs to be sent to the DOC's third-party mail vendor Smart Communications. Mail sent to the Security Processing Center will be processed through to the facility where the inmate is located. Upon arriving at the facility mailroom the mail will be denied and confiscated.

The facilities are classified into 4 security levels: Minimum, Medium, Close, and finally Maximum.

What Is Compassionate Release? Compassionate release (technically called “deferment of sentence”) allows sick inmates to be released from prison early if certain requirements are met. The requirements are laid out in a Pennsylvania statute, codified as 42 Pa. C.S.

E-Messaging is available through Securus. This is a system that allows digital communication between inmates and their friends/family. More information is on the Securus website, which can be accessed by clicking Here. Inmates are allowed to make collect calls from the institution during regular block out hours.

Address the envelope. On the first line, write the inmate's name and booking number. On the second line, write the physical address of the jail, or the P.O. box where the jail accepts inmate mail. On the third line, write the city, state, and zip code.

Be sentenced to confinement under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections. Minimum sentence of not more than 3 years. Be less than 40 years old. Be classified as a minimum custody level inmate.
