You may take a Flight Review at any time before the 24th month, it just means that you are now current to act as pilot in command for the next 24-month cycle. Any Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) may conduct the Flight Review.

You do not need a current medical during the flight review as long as the flight instructor agrees to be the acting PIC, or if you are operating as a sport pilot with a current and valid U.S. driver's license in lieu of a medical. You cannot fail a flight review.

For holders of pilot certificates issued by the United States Federal Aviation Administration a flight review (previously the FAA referred to this as a biennial flight review, usually abbreviated BFR) is a review required of every active holder of a U.S. pilot certificate at least every 24 calendar months.

They're not "pass or fail", and they can be conducted by any current flight instructor. Flight Reviews serve as a good way to brush-up on skills, maneuvers, and procedures that you don't use in your normal day-to-day flying.

The ground portion of a flight review can be performed by: An authorized flight instructor; An advanced ground instructor; or. A basic ground instructor if the pilot holds a Sport, Recreational, or Private Pilot certificate.

This form is to be used by persons who currently hold a Part 61 Flight Crew Licence and seek to add a flight activity endorsement.

The CFI's flight review isn't current Like any other pilot, a CFI needs to have a flight review conducted to be eligible to be a pilot. To act as a CFI, a valid pilot certificate must be kept current. This means getting that flight review every 24 months.
