To be eligible for a TEXAS Grant award, a student must: Have financial need, as determined by the institution. Be enrolled at least 3/4 time. Not have earned a baccalaureate degree. Not have been convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance.

How can you apply? You apply for the TEXAS Grant when you complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other application as required by your college's financial aid office. Funding is limited, so you need to submit your application as soon as possible after January 1 of your senior year.

In general, grants are given based on financial-need, while scholarships are merit-based and awarded to students based on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, field of study, and more. Loans are the more commonly-used type of financial assistance.

For the 2023-24 academic year: An eligible student may receive up to $5,379 per semester. There are four different pathways by which a student can receive an initial award, as well as four different high school graduation requirements.

TEXAS Grant Program. The TEXAS (Toward Excellence, Access and Success) Program is a need-based program for Texas resident students pursuing their first-degree. The TEXAS Grant program covers the full cost of tuition and fees through a combination of state, federal, and institutional grants and scholarships.

UNT Tuition Grant, UNT Grant, Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) Need-based grant offered to undergraduate and graduate students who meet eligibility criteria. These grants require at least halftime enrollment and are prorated for enrollment that is less than fulltime.

Many scholarships are awarded based on merit. Grants can come from the federal government, your state government, your college or career school, or a private or nonprofit organization and typically don't have to be repaid.

For the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years: An eligible student may receive up to $3,497 per year. An eligible undergraduate student with exceptional financial need (defined as a student with an Expected Family Contribution, or EFC, less than or equal to $1,000 for the year) may receive up to $5,246 per year.
