Before applying for registration, Pharmacy Technicians must take and pass a national certification examination through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT). The certification must be current (future expiration date).

Timeline of Application Process. A pharmacy should allow at minimum 90 days for a COMPLETE pharmacy license application to be reviewed and processed.

In order to perform technician duties in a pharmacy, individuals must have an ACTIVE Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician Registration issued by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP). Must be Certified with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Timeline of Application Process. A pharmacy should allow at minimum 90 days for a COMPLETE pharmacy license application to be reviewed and processed.

To perform the duties of a pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee, an individual must have an ACTIVE registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

The fee for biennial renewal of a pharmacist license shall be $335 for a two-year registration.
