Script coverage is the term used for the analysis and reviewing of screenplays. In Hollywood, it's usually part of the creative development process, the first review step that a spec script receives as it makes its way up the chain of command at a studio, production company or literary agency or management company.

A logline is a one- or two-sentence summation of the script's core story. Its role in script coverage is to provide the reader of the script coverage (such as a producer or agent) a brief overview of the story.

All scripts should be written in Courier 12 pt font. This standardized font size allows executives to estimate the length of the film based on the length of the script. It is no exaggeration to say that 99% of studio executives will NOT read a spec script that is written in a different font.

Screenplays written in Final Draft and saved in the FDX format are ready for professional use. The Final Draft professional quality is why so many agents, directors and producers will tell writers to only send them a screenplay written in Final Draft.

As such, most screenplays are written in Courier font, 12-point size, single-spaced. Courier is a “fixed-pitch” or monospaced font, which means that each character and space is exactly the same width.

The 5 elements that make up a great story For this introduction, we're going to call them character, want and need, plot, structure, and conflict and resolution.

Screenplays require Courier font at size 12. Over the years, people in the film and TV industry have chosen this size and font for readability. It also gives a reasonable way to guess the length of the movie (at this font and size, about one screenplay page is one minute of screen time).
