NJ/PA Reciprocal Agreement The Reciprocal Personal Income Tax Agreement between Pennsylvania and New Jersey means compensation paid to New Jersey residents employed in Pennsylvania is not subject to Pennsylvania income tax.

Note: NY and NJ do not have reciprocity. If you work in NY and live in NJ, you will need to pay NY income taxes as a non-resident and pay NJ income taxes as a resident. However, NJ residents can take a tax credit for taxes that have been paid to other jurisdictions.

If you live in Pennsylvania and work in New Jersey, you pay Pennsylvania's state income tax, a flat 3.07 percent. If you live in New Jersey and work in Pennsylvania, you pay New Jersey's graduated income tax, with higher rates in higher-income brackets, maxing out at 10.75 percent.

There is no reciprocity.

NJ Taxation The Reciprocal Agreement covers compensation only. If you are self-employed or receive other income (ie., gain from the sale of property) that is taxable in both states, you must file a New Jersey nonresident return and report the income received.

All business taxpayers with a prior-year liability of $10,000 or more in any tax are required to make their payments for all taxes by electronic funds transfer (EFT).

Other States' Reciprocity With New Jersey Arkansas (permitless carry, at least 18 years old) Idaho (permitless carry, at least 18 years old) Indiana (permitless carry, at least 18 years old) Mississippi (permitless carry, at least 18 years old) Montana (permitless carry, at least 18 years old)

In order to register as an EFT payer, your business must be registered with the Division and you must have a PIN for your business. The Division of Taxation issues PINs to registered businesses. If you need to obtain a PIN for your business, call the Division of Taxation at 609-292-6400.

You can request a payment plan for any unpaid amount, including Cigarette Taxes, Homestead Benefit, and Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) repayments. Your plan must include all unpaid balances. The monthly payment must be at least $25. Plans may be approved for up to a maximum of 72 months.
