In the UK, the P60 form has been issued since 1944 by employers to each of their employees to detail the employees' taxable income and deductions made by PAYE (both for income tax and National Insurance contributions) for that year.

Print the P60 Click Payroll Year End on the bottom left-hand side of payroll. Click Produce P60s then click Print/Email. On the Print or Email drop-down list click Print. Click the Print button beside Print P60s, then from the preview click Print.

You must give all employees a P60 at the end of each tax year, and a P45 when they stop working for you. Use your payroll software to produce them, unless your software cannot do this or you're exempt from filing online. There's a separate guide about P45, P60 and P11D forms if you're a worker.

At the end of the financial year, your employer will provide you with a Form P60 which is the British equivalent of Form W-2. If you separate from your employer prior to the year-end Form P45 will be issued instead. Recall that the United States requires income reported on a calendar year basis.

You should be issued your P60 by your current employer. If you don't receive one, you can also get your P60 information online by creating a HMRC personal tax account. If you've changed jobs during the tax year, you will only receive a P60 at the end of the tax year by your current employer.

If your P60 information is incorrect, then your employer can issue you a new P60. Occasionally, a payroll department may make a mistake and issue a P60 with mistakes in it. If you spot that any of the information in your P60 is incorrect, get in touch with your employer so they can issue you a new, amended one.

Your P60 shows the tax you've paid on your salary in the tax year (6 April to 5 April). You get a separate P60 for each of your jobs every tax year. There's a separate guide to getting P60s if you're an employer. If you're working for an employer on 5 April they must give you a P60.

There are two PAYE forms in particular that you'll come across quite often, and you may recognise them from life as an employee. These are the P60 and P45. The P45 is used when employees change jobs and the P60 is used to summarise the employee's tax information at the end of the tax year.
