This is a North Carolina Driver Education Course for Teenagers under 18 Years Old. Our online drivers ed course is designed to prepare you for your permit and driving license tests. The term "Driving Eligibility Certificate" (also known as "DEC") refers to the official State of North Carolina school form required only of North Carolina drivers who are under age 18.

2. How do I get my certificate of completion (DE-964)? You must first take the course through a licensed driver education school. Once you have completed the course, you will be issued your certificate of completion.

A PTDE course consists, at minimum, of 76 hours of instruction time: 32 hours of classroom instruction (must not be completed in fewer than 16 calendar days) 44 hours of in-car instruction made up of. ... In-car instruction hours must not be completed in less than 44 calendar days.

The DMV requires the DEC when the student applies for his/her permit. The Driving Eligibility Certificate is only valid for 30 days from the date of issue. If your DEC has expired or has been lost, please contact the student's High School office to obtain a new one.

Once you have passed the course final exam, we will send you a driver's ed certificate of completion in the mail. This is the same completion certificate you will take with you to the DMV when you take the written test needed to earn a California learner permit.

To obtain a Driving Eligibility Certificate (DEC) student's much have a driver education certificate. This is provided after completing 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours of behind the wheel (BTW) instruction. A DEC is needed when a student plans to apply for a North Carolina driving permit or license.

Driver Education is an integral part of the Graduated Licensing Process and required in North Carolina for a student to obtain a learner's permit or driver's license before the age of 18.
