Interment - Burial in the ground, entombment, or in the case of cremated remains, inurnment or scattering in a cemetery. Inurnment - The placing of cremated remains in an urn. Mausoleum - A building in which human remains are interred (entombed).

Interment of ashes refers to cremated remains being buried in the ground or placed in a columbarium. A columbarium is a building specially designed to hold ashes. Interment is ideal for people who do not wish for their ashes to be scattered or displayed in the home.

A Burial / Disposition Permit must be obtained before any kind of disposition can take place for a body. To obtain a Burial / Disposition Permit, original death documents or required stillbirth documents need to be provided to a hospital administrator.

Interment is the placing of a corpse in a grave. If a loved one dies, you need to make arrangements for the interment so that people can bid the deceased farewell. Interment comes from root words meaning "to place inside," and in this case it's the placing of someone inside the earth, for burial.

Interment Space means a grave, crypt, or niche. Installation means the preparation of the earth to place a memorial or vase. Inurnment means the placement of cremated human remains in an urn and placement of such urn in a niche, crypts, grave, or other suitable location in the Cemetery.

The ashes are either placed in an urn niche or lowered into the ground. Someone may say a prayer, read a poem, or give readings for the interment of ashes. The urn is sealed in place. The celebrant says final words or prayers at an interment of ashes, and then the mourners leave.

Usually, the term refers to burial, typically with funeral rites. However, with the increase in cremation, interment now means “final resting place.” In other words, it's the place where a person is laid to rest permanently, whether they are buried or cremated.

In Oregon, a cremation can only be performed once a 'Cremation Authorization Form' has been signed by the legal next of kin and the coroner has issued the cremation permit [Cremation permit fee is $7.00]. A mandatory waiting period is 24 hours before a cremation can proceed.
