Qualifying for a Charge Up New Jersey incentive is easy! Be a resident of the State of New Jersey, at the time of vehicle order, purchase or lease, which will be verified by the Dealership or Showroom via a current New Jersey Driver's License. Only a New Jersey Driver's License is eligible for residency verification.

DC fast chargers are by far the most efficient EV charging stations and their costs are similar to Level 2 chargers. You might be charged either by time (per minute) or by electricity (per kWh), and the national average is about $0.35/kWh, which works out to an average cost of $10 to $30 per charge.

State Incentives Receive an incentive of up to $4,000 when you purchase or lease a new all-electric vehicle in New Jersey. Receive a rebate of up to $250 when you purchase an eligible electric vehicle charger for your home. This incentive can be combined with utility incentives for installation of a home charger.

Get Up to $4000 in Rebates and Other Benefits Vehicles under $45,000 receive NJ's state rebate up to $4,000 and vehicles priced between $45,000 and $55,000 receive up to $2,000. Also, you can receive an additional rebate of up to $250 with your purchase of an eligible electric vehicle charger for your home.

It Pay$ to Plug In provides grants to offset the cost of purchasing and installing electric vehicle charging stations. The program is designed to expand New Jersey's growing network of electric vehicle infrastructure, allowing residents, businesses, and government agencies to purchase and drive electric vehicles.

The idea in theory is quite simple, per the IRS – “You may qualify for a credit up to $7,500 under Internal Revenue Code Section 30D if you buy a new, qualified plug-in EV or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCV).

Keep in mind you need to apply at an eligible dealership at the point of sale to take advantage of this incentive. To get the $250 home charger rebate, you need to purchase an eligible Level 2 charger. Make sure you buy from the list of eligible home chargers to take advantage of the residential charger program.

Just like any other electrical installation, the charging systems for electric vehicles are required to comply with the construction codes adopted by the State of New Jersey in the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). That doesn't mean that the installation of these devices ALWAYS requires a construction permit.
