Lien Release: After a lien has been filed, the California claimant can release or cancel the lien by filing a Mechanics Lien Release form with the county recorder's office where the lien was originally recorded.

A lien release is a document that is filed in the public land records as the official notice that the lien is removed. Once payment has been received, a contractor has a duty to remove any lien that was filed against the property.

What is a Release of Lien? Once you have paid off a note secured by a deed of trust (a mortgage) against real property, you must record a document called a "release of lien" in the County Clerk's records of the Texas county where the land is located.

In Texas, when the borrower's obligations under the deed of trust are fully satisfied, the lien of the deed of trust is discharged by recording a release of lien (release). A release must be recorded with the county recorder for the deed of trust to be discharged from the public records.

When perfecting liens, a lienholder uses a third-party service provider to release the lien. When the lien(s) are being satisfied, the third-party service provider will forward lien satisfactions from the lienholder to the department and will receive an electronic confirmation from the department.

Lenders in Texas customarily use a release of lien when the loan secured by a deed of trust has been paid in full or otherwise satisfied. The release of lien is recorded in the county where the real property collateral is located.

To remove a lien recorded on a paper title, you will need: the vehicle title. a release of lien letter and/or other notifications from the lienholder(s) currently named on the vehicle title. a completed Application for Texas Title and/or Registration (Form 130-U)

After the lien on a vehicle is paid off, the lienholder has 10 business days after receipt of payment to release the lien. If the lien was recorded on a paper title, the lienholder mails the title to you.
