An event organizer submits a permit application through the NYC Parks website (nyceventpermits.nyc.gov/Parks) to request a date and location.

You must have a Special Event permit to hold any event with more than 20 people in a park or on a beach, including barbecues and parties. You will be advised if you need any additional permits for your event once you submit the application.

NJ State Park Service - Division of Parks and Forestry Note: An event is not approved until a final permit is issued and signed by all parties; additional fees may be required to obtain final approval.

Things to Know Before You Apply. Special Events permits cost $25 to process, and the fee cannot be waived waived (except when requesting an NYC Parks group volunteer project). We will do our best to give you what you request, but this money is not refundable.

If you are hosting an event where liquor will be sold at a location that is not licensed OR where liquor will be served or sold in a public space, you will need a licence. Events held at private residences or licensed establishments do not require Special Event Permits.
