You're usually entitled to: a 30 minute rest break if you work for more than 4 hours and 30 minutes in a day.

You get a 10 minute paid rest break for every 4 hours you work in a day. This is required by law and can't be waived or substituted by a meal break. You also have the right to take a 30 minute unpaid meal period if you work more than 5 hours in a day.

Employees must be allowed a paid rest period, free from duties, of at least 10 minutes for every 4 hours worked. Additionally: Employees cannot be required to work more than 3 hours without a rest break. Breaks must be scheduled as close to the midpoint of a work period as possible.

If an employee works 8 or more consecutive hours, the employer must provide a 30-minute break and an additional 15 minute break for every additional 4 consecutive hours worked.

If the employer has space in its business or worksite, it must also provide a private location, other than a bathroom, for the employee to express milk; if no private space is available, the employer must work with the employee to find a convenient location and work schedule to accommodate her needs.

All workers must receive a meal period of at least 30 minutes for every 5 hours worked. If they work more than 11 hours in a day, then they must receive an additional meal period of at least 30 minutes.

If an employee receiving unpaid meal periods receives an interrupted, shortened, or completely missed meal break, credit the employee for the time worked, plus an additional 30 minutes.

Under Washington law, employers can round based on the “7-minute rule” (i.e. when employees are 1-7 minutes late, they must be paid for the entire quarter hour; but if they are 8 to 14 minutes late, payment need not begin until the next quarter-hour).
