On June 14, 2019, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law the Statewide Housing Security & Tenant Protection Act of 2019 and the Housing Stability & Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (the Acts). The Acts are a sweeping and comprehensive collection of new provisions that strengthen tenant protections for all New Yorkers.

A Tenant Protection Plan (TPP) outlines what steps the contractor and your building owner will take to protect tenants when construction or renovation happens while tenants are living in the building. The TPP works to avoid or limit service disruptions and lessen the negative impacts of construction.

Lot coverage is that portion of a zoning lot which, when viewed from above, is covered by a building. Permitted obstructions are not counted towards lot coverage calculations. Lot depth is the mean horizontal distance between the front lot line and rear lot line of a zoning lot.

- Owners are required to distribute a notice about the TPP to each occupied dwelling unit or post a notice regarding the TPP in the building lobby, as well as on each floor within 10 feet of the elevator, or in a building where there is no elevator, within 10 feet of or in the main stairwell on such floor.
