The number of games in a double-elimination tournament is one or two less than twice the number of teams participating (e.g. 8 teams would see 14 or 15 games).

To host a double elimination tournament with 20 teams is certainly not an easy task. As with any double elimination tournament, the final number of matches can result in double the amount minus one or two matches. That means that a 20 team double elimination bracket will either have 39 or 38 matches.

The playoffs are a double-elimination tournament. Once a team has lost two games during the playoffs, that team is then out. The home team is the higher seed, except when there is a loss by the higher seed, e.g. 2 seed loses first game and then plays 5 seed in championship game, the 5 seed retains home field advantage.
