The Taurus PT1911 is a replication of the US military model 1911 single-action recoil operated semi-automatic pistol. It was designed and manufactured by Taurus in Porto Alegre Brazil, and distributed in the US by Taurus USA. Announced at the 2005 SHOT Show, it was released to the consumer market in the fall of 2005.

Utterly dependable with cheap or expensive ammo, round nose or hollow points and reloads. The accuracy of the gun is far greater with it's match barrel and crisp trigger pull, than I can milk out of it with my shooting skills. The only downside to many Taurus firearms is the lack of aftermarket parts.

With a barrel length of 4.2 inches, an overall length of eight inches, and an extended beaver tail, the 1911 Commander 9mm Luger is both comfortable to shoot and to carry.

The Taurus PT-1911 does a pretty good job of living up to the century-long legacy of 1911s. It strikes the right balance of affordable and quality and performs well. Upgrading the trigger can be a challenge, but that's about the only issue.

Trigger. Among its greatest assets, the 1911 trigger is one of the best in the pistol world. Designed to travel straight backward, the trigger helps keeps the sights in line during this critical stage of breaking a shot. There is no play or pivot to it, just smooth, linear travel.
