A and B in algebra stand for any variables of real numbers. A real number is a value of a continuous quantity that can represent a distance along a line. So if you see A and B in doing your algebra it is just a representation of a value that you need to find.

Generally, a passing score is between 150-160 points, but it is important to find the specifications of the test you are taking and your state/agency requirements.

The exam has 24 multiple choice questions and 13 student-constructed response questions. Each question is worth a specific number of points (called “credits”).

You will be tested on the following Algebra 1 units: Solving Equations, Graphing Equations, Writing Equations, Systems of Equations, Inequalities, Functions, Exponents and Monomials, Polynomials, Factoring, and Quadratic Equations. These are the ten units that are assessed in Algebra 1.

Students who have a strong background in middle school math topics (fractions, decimals, ratios, percents, negative numbers) should find an Algebra 1 course relatively accessible. However, for many students, Algebra 1 will be quite a difficult challenge.

The Praxis Algebra 1 exam is a computer-based exam that contains 60 questions. These questions are selected-response questions and numeric-entry questions. Test takers have 150 minutes, or 2.5 hours, to complete the exam. Test takers are allowed to use the on-screen graphing calculator that is provided.
