An A1 certificate (certificate of coverage) shows that your employee will stay insured in the Netherlands if they are going to work outside the Netherlands temporarily. It is important that your employee has an A1 certificate. Without it, they will probably not be able to work in the other country.

The A1 form certifies which social security legislation applies to the holder of the form. It will generally be needed in situations where you, as an employed or self-employed person, have a connection through your employment or self-employment with more than one EU country (1).
