Becoming a backflow tester in Florida is a relatively straightforward process. You have to get your plumber's license, then pass the backflow tester exam to get your backflow certification. Once you are certified, you must take a recertification course to maintain your license.

A Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) licensed Plumbing Inspector. A TSBPE-licensed plumber with a Water Supply Protection Specialist endorsement.

Because backflow-prevention assemblies are mechanical assemblies that can fail, the TCEQ requires testing of all backflow-prevention assemblies at installation by a TCEQ-licensed tester. Backflow-prevention assemblies installed to protect against any health hazard must be tested annually.

This test is to make sure there's no debris in the newly installed piping, or alterations to existing piping that could foul or affect the operation of the new backflow preventer. Annually: You must have your testable backflow preventers inspected and tested once a year, or more often if required by the City.
