After 28 weeks, the airline may ask for a letter from your doctor or midwife confirming your due date. This is to make sure you aren't at risk of complications. Many airlines do not allow women to fly after 37 weeks, so make sure you check with your airline before booking.

After 28 weeks, passengers must have a medical certificate from a medical professional that details the due date of the baby and how many weeks pregnant the passenger is. On flights less than four hours, pregnant passengers are permitted to travel up until the end of the 36th week.

If you're pregnant and traveling before your 36th week, you can travel on a United flight without medical documentation. If you've reached your 36th week or after, you'll need an obstetrician's certificate — the original and two copies — stating that you're fit for air travel.

Most airlines don't need you to tell them you are pregnant until 28 weeks. After that most airlines will want you to carry a letter from your GP or midwife saying: that you're in good health. that you have an uncomplicated pregnancy.

A flat rate of €25/£25 or equivalent (excluding taxes and charges where applicable) per one way flight on all European routes or 10% of the adult fare on flights from/to North America will apply. Car type safety seats may be used by children aged more than six months and less than 36 months.

Pregnant Passengers Should Be Able to Board Early After you've checked in, but before boarding has started, be sure to let the gate agent know you're pregnant. Not all airlines automatically give boarding preference to passengers who are expecting, but most do and the attendants may even make an exception for you.

Your doctor must complete an Expectant Mother Travel Advice Form and if asked, you must present it at check in and/or the boarding gate. This applies if pregnancy is between 28 and 35 weeks for any part of the journey. Week 36 or over: You cannot travel on Aer Lingus flights.

Flying while pregnant Most airlines won't let you fly if you're within about a month of your due date. Some will need a letter from your GP or midwife saying you're fit to fly when you're 7 months pregnant. Check with the airline before you book.
