WHAT WE DO. The Florida State Fire Marshal is dedicated to protecting life, property and the environment from the devastation of fire. Our focus and efforts foster a fire safe environment through engineering, education and enforcement.

To obtain a report related to a fire event, you must appear in person at Fire Headquarters (1516 Jackson Street, Omaha NE 68102). The fee for a fire report is $5.00 and must be paid in cash. Exact change is required. To obtain a report for an EMS related incident, please contact the EMS Secretary at 402-444-4002.

The Florida Fire Prevention Code is adopted by the State Fire Marshal at three year intervals as required by Chapter 633.202, Florida Statutes.

Open Burn Permit Before any open burning is done, a permit must be obtained from the local fire chief or his/her designee on a form prescribed by the State Fire Marshal. Fire chiefs may contact our office at (402) 471-2027 to obtain a pad of Open Burn Permits.
