A non-cumulative tax code is represented by the X at the end of the tax code. This means that tax is calculated on the gross pay earned in the current pay period only.

Tax code 1257L The most common tax code for tax year 2022 to 2023 is 1257L. It's used for most people with one job and no untaxed income, unpaid tax or taxable benefits (for example a company car). 1257L is an emergency tax code only if followed by 'W1', 'M1' or 'X'.

An emergency code of 1275L followed by W1, M1 or X means that your tax will be worked out using the standard personal allowance (£12,570 for 2023/24). But each time, the calculation is done as if this is the first week (or month or other pay period) in the tax year.

With a tax code BR you will pay income tax (PAYE) of £4,000 over the year. If paid monthly your net pay before national insurance would be £1,333.33. With a tax code 1257L you will pay income tax (PAYE) of £1,486 over the year. If paid monthly your net pay before national insurance would be £1,542.83.

The tax code 1250L was the most commonly used tax code in the UK in the tax years 2019/2020 and 2020/2021. After 2021, the tax code changed from 1250L to 1257L. That occurred because the personal allowance that employees in the UK can earn tax-free was changed to £12,570 a year.

With a tax code 1257L your tax free total is £12,570 per annum. This is spread over the course of the year so that your weekly allowance would be £241. If paid monthly it would be £1,047. n.b Scotland has introduced its own tax rates which are slightly different to those stated above.

HMRC may update your tax code if: you start to get income from an additional job or pension. your employer tells HMRC you have started or stopped getting benefits from your job. you get taxable state benefits.

The 2023 finance bill fixed the applicable CIT rates as follows: 20% for companies with a net tax income lower than MAD 100 million. 35% for companies with a net tax income equal to or higher than MAD 100 million (subject to some exceptions).
