USE GOOD STICKING PRACTICES: Slowly lower the gauge stick to the tank's bottom. Let the stick gently touch the bottom, then quickly bring it back up. Read the depth of fuel indicated by the wet mark to the closest c inch division on the stick. Use of fuel-finding paste will make your stick readings more accurate.

Statistical Inventory Reconciliation (SIR) is a method that uses a third party certified computer software program to conduct a statistical analysis of inventory, delivery, and dispensing data. Data must be collected daily and analyzed every month. The result of the analysis may be “pass,” “inconclusive,” or “fail.”

You must check for a release at least once every 30 days. The barrier must be immediately around or beneath the tank. A double-walled system must be able to detect a leak through the inner wall.

You need one MONTHLY INVENTORY RECORD for each tank that you have. RECORD for your recordkeeping.

Owners and operators must maintain records of release detection equipment testing for at least three years. The record must include each component tested, whether each component passed the test or needed to have action taken, and any action taken to correct an issue.

If the SIR analysis is inconclusive, the Owner/Operator shall immediately, upon obtaining knowledge of the inconclusive result, commence an investigation to determine whether there is a release or leakage. The investigation shall be concluded within 72 hours of obtaining knowledge of the inconclusive result.

ATGs must be maintained and calibrated ing to the manufacturers' schedule. An MPCA approved tester must conduct a functionality and programming check of the ATG annually.

The specific records to keep depend on the type of release detection you use. MONTHLY TESTING: Print out at least one leak test result for each tank and keep these records for one year.
