Your Maternity Benefit must have been in payment for at least 14 weeks and you must have taken at least 4 weeks of maternity leave after your baby was born. You can postpone your Maternity Benefit for up to 6 months.

MATB1 is different to the exemption certificate, though ilovepowerhoop. It's the form that tells your employer you're entitled to maternity leave. The exemption certificate is for free treatments/prescriptions etc.

The last day of work can be within 16 weeks of the end of the week your baby is due. The amount of Maternity Benefit is 235pw for claims beginning on or after March 2017. The PRSI contributions can be from employment or self-employment - PRSI classes that count for Maternity Benefit are A, E, H and S (self-employed).
