What is the maximum basic monthly adoption assistance maintenance payment in Kansas? Basic rates range from $0 to $500. Children receiving SSI may receive from $0 to the SSI rate, which is $914 in 2023.

The general adoption credit equals: 25% of the federal credit; 50% of the federal credit if the child was a Kansas resident before the adoption; or. 75% of the federal credit if the child was both a Kansas resident before the adoption and a child with special needs.

Monthly Adoption Subsidy Payment: Children may be determined eligible for a monthly subsidy payment. Adoption subsidies are based on a child's needs and family's community resources and support services.

Since the credit is per child, the maximum you claim depends on the number of children you adopt. If you adopted two children in 2023, your maximum is $15,950 x 2 or $31,900. If you adopt four children, the maximum is $15,950 x 4 or $63,800.

For 2023, the adoption tax credit is fully available in the amount of $15,950 if your modified adjusted gross income is equal to or less than $239,230. If your modified adjusted gross income is more than $239,230 but less than $279,230, you will receive a reduced tax credit.
