Get V5c Log Book

Also known as a V5C, a vehicle logbook is a document required by the DVLA. It tracks the registration and taxation history of a specific vehicle. In other words, the logbook serves to link a person to a specific vehicle, by demonstrating who keeps the car. The logbook proves your ownership of a vehicle.

You need to get a log book (V5C) if the original has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed by you or your insurance company. You can get a duplicate log book online if you do not need to change anything in the log book. The log book will be posted to the address which the DVLA has on record.

If you don't have the V5C or reference number you will have to fill out a V62 to update owner details. You can print it and post from the DVLA link below it does cost £25 though.

You cannot currently apply for a replacement log book online. If you are the registered keeper of a vehicle and your log book has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, you can apply by phone and get a replacement for £25. You'll need to contact DVLA Vehicle Enquiries on 0300 790 6802 and pay over the phone.
