Why does Macbeth feel he can ignore the first apparition's warning? He knows Macduff was born of woman, so he doesn't need to fear Macduff.

But he is not cowardly at this point because he has consciously made a reasoned choice to kill. He does not feel guilty but feels the weight of this choice. All he wants is for the ghost of Banquo to announce the factuality of the act itself!

Three main ones are: ambition and power. the supernatural. appearances and reality.

As the play progresses, Macbeth attempts to quell those fears by means of further bloodshed. Until and unless he can murder all who appear to threaten his ill-gotten crown, he feels himself "cabin'd, cribb'd, confined, bound in / To saucy doubts and fears" (3.4. 24-25).

All of Macbeth's actions were done out of fear, not only fear of being caught but also fear of the witches' prophecies. He was afraid that they might be true and tried at all costs to prevent them from happening. The whole play was inspired by fear and what it can do to a person.

In Scene 3, why does Macbeth no longer fear death? He feels confident because the witches told him he can't be harmed until the prophecies come true. Relate Scene 4 to the prophecies given to Macbeth by the apparitions.

Macbeth Summary. Three witches tell the Scottish general Macbeth that he will be King of Scotland. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth kills the king, becomes the new king, and kills more people out of paranoia. Civil war erupts to overthrow Macbeth, resulting in more death.

In his castle, Macbeth boasts that he does not fear the approaching English army because he believes that the witches' prophecies ensure that he will not be overthrown or killed.
