How much does a fire permit cost in California? Campfire permits are free of charge, making responsible fire use accessible to everyone.

General Burn Permits (LE-5) are required for large pile burning, including agricultural and incinerator burning. This permit is also used for hazardous projects that could cause a fire, such as outdoor welding. A site visit may be required before a permit is issued.

Permit is currently required to have a campfire outside of Campfire Use Sites (developed car campgrounds). You can also go to any Forest Service, CALFIRE, or Bureau of Land Management office during business hours to obtain a permit. Regulations governing campfires can change with weather conditions and the seasons.

Currently, there are no active burn bans in the State of Tennessee.

How do I get a burning authorization in Florida, and what information do I need to have ready to give the Florida Forest Service? Call your local Florida Forest Service office and request an authorization to burn either after 4 p.m. on the day before the burn or on the day of the burn.

Recreational fires must be no larger than 3 feet in diameter. The fire cannot be used as a disposal fire—i.e., paper, natural vegetation/yard debris, garbage, etc. The only legal fuel to burn is charcoal, natural gas, propane and firewood. The wood must be dry, clean, and natural (untreated) wood or manufactured logs.

California Fire Permits are free. They are valid for one calendar year and should be acquired before your hike or horseback ride. Permits can be obtained at any California U.S. Forest Service, BLM, or California Division of Forestry office.
