A points system is used by the DWP to determine whether you pass the test. Each descriptor is given a fixed number of points, ranging from 0 to 15 (the number of points allocated is not shown on the form). To pass the test you need to score 15 points in total. The points can come from any combination of activities.

Universal Credit if you have a sick or disabled child If your child is disabled or has a long-term health condition, you may be able to claim the disabled child element as part of your Universal Credit payment. The rate of disabled child element you get will depend on the rate of DLA or PIP you are getting for them.

To score points in the Work Capability Assessment (WCA), you must have a health condition that means you cannot work, and you need to score 15 points in total across the questionnaire to show you have limited capability for work. You can score 6, 9 or 15 points for each question.

You will get paid an extra amount of Universal Credit called the LCWRA component, if you were in receipt of the Support Component in ESA immediately before your claim to Universal Credit and have no changes to your health condition.
