ABSENT APPLICANT An absentee affidavit is to be completed if an applicant is unable to appear personally before the County Clerk to apply for a marriage license. The other applicant may apply for a marriage license on behalf of the absent applicant.

Blood tests, medical exams, and witnesses are not required in Texas. Your ceremony must be performed within 90 days from the issuing date. If you haven't gotten married before the expiration date you will need to purchase a new license.

The absent applicant must appoint any adult, except the other applicant to act as proxy for the purpose of participating in the marriage license process and the ceremony. The person to act as proxy must be named on the form and must appear in person with the other party and present his/her identification.

An absentee affidavit is to be completed if an applicant is unable to appear personally before the County Clerk to apply for a marriage license. The other applicant may apply for a marriage license on behalf of the absent applicant.

To apply for a marriage license, a man and a woman must each have a valid form of identification, such as a driver's license; a certified copy of a birth certificate; a passport or military identi- fication card; and their Social Security cards.
