The Functional Communication Profile (FCP) is an informal, criterion-referenced measure that is designed to assess communicative effectiveness in clients with developmental and acquired delays. This measure can be implemented with a wide array of individuals, ranging from ages 3;0 to adult.

There is no scoring system, but the profile provides an overall inventory of skills and a thorough picture of the individual's communicative abilities, allowing for variables in client ability, severity of impairment, mode of communication, and degree of independence versus assistance or prompting.

The Inventory of Functional Communication (IFC ) was created to help record the communication skills of adults with developmental disabilities and to guide professionals in the development of functional communication programs.

The Functional Communication Measures (FCM) consists of a series of rating scales, ranging from 1 (least functional) to 7 (most functional), assessing cognitive requirements for communication and communicative abilities in patients with brain injury.

For example, a child might be distressed when they want a toy but can't ask for it. In FCT, the child would learn how to ask for the toy differently – for example, using speech, Key Word Sign, gestures or pictures.

The Functional Communication Measures (FCMs) are a series of 15 disorder-specific seven-point rating scales, ranging from least functional (Level 1) to most functional (Level 7).

OVERVIEW. The IMPACT Social Communication Rating Scale is a norm-referenced pragmatic language rating scale for children and young adults ages 5 through 21 years old. It is composed of 35-40 test items, and has three separate forms to be completed by clinician, parent(s), and teacher(s).
