The Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme (the Scheme) is designed to protect the safety and wellbeing of Victorians living with disability. The Scheme excludes people who pose a threat to the health, safety or welfare of people with disability from work as a disability worker in a disability service.

The applicant has 2 weeks to visit a Service NSW centre after they complete the online application. Employers then have 30 days in which to verify the application before the application assessment process can begin.

The Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme is a Victorian Government initiative designed to further protect the safety and wellbeing of Victorians with disability who access disability services.

How to apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check. Workers engaged to provide NDIS supports and services to registered NDIS providers, unregistered NDIS providers and self-managed participants can apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check through a state or territory agency. Each agency has a 'Worker Screening Unit'.

Statutory Declaration Pre-employment screening for disability workers (DWES) ... This Statutory Declaration should be completed and declared by a worker prior to being engaged by a disability service provider and complements all other safety screening requirements for workers.

The scheme operates in accordance with the Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme (DWES) Instruction, June 2020 (see 'Related resources'). The DWES Instruction outlines the authority for the scheme and describes the obligations of disability service providers in relation to pre-employment screening and notifications.
