The WSIB provides a wide range of benefits and services to injured workers. The benefits can include payments to cover part of your wage loss, as well as coverage for health care costs related to a workplace injury. The WSIB also provides services to assist with returning to work.

WSIB coverage is mandatory for independent operators, sole proprietors, partners in a partnership and executive officers in a corporation who work in construction. Most will have to register with us (some exemptions apply).

We provide wage-loss benefits, medical coverage and support to help people get back to work after a work-related injury or illness. We are funded by premiums paid by Ontario businesses. We provide no-fault collective liability insurance and access to industry-specific health and safety information.

If your work-related injury or illness causes you to lose earnings, we will provide income replacement benefits. If we determine that you can't work because of your work-related injury or illness, or you can only safely return to work for less pay, we may pay you up to 85 per cent of your pre-injury take-home pay.

Your loss-of-earnings benefit will continue until: your work-related injury or illness no longer affects your ability to return to your pre-injury work; or. you're no longer losing pay; or. the day you reach 65-years-old if you were less than 63-years-old the day of your injury; or.

Employers who operate in Ontario generally require WSIB coverage for their workers. WSIB coverage provides employers with legal protection if a workplace injury occurs, and provides injured workers a variety of benefits and services.
