Whilst a CT scan requires a clinical referral due to very low dose radiation exposure, if you think you need a CT scan we can arrange an appointment with one of our GPs who can then refer you for a CT if needed.

Whilst not as relevant for MRI scans, self-referral for CT scans could result in unnecessary or excessive exposure to ionising radiation. Proper evaluation by a healthcare provider is used by an imaging department to justify the radiation exposure.

The self-referred scan is also allowed in the case of Computed Tomography and Ultrasound. However, it is always better to get your doctor's approval before doing any experiment with your own body!
