The college itself vacated the premises in 2018, eventually selling to the Yeshiva of Viznitz D'Khal Torath Chaim in Ramapo in November of 2020 for $45.5 million.

The 2020 closing on the Nyack College property took place within 24 hours of South Nyack's vote to dissolve the 142-year-old village government and become part of the Town of Orangetown.

In 1956 the school was renamed Nyack Missionary College and then in 1972 changed to Nyack College to reflect the total program of the college.

Rajan S. Mathews is the 13th president of Nyack College, founded in 1882 and Alliance Theological Seminary, founded in 1960, both located in Manhattan with an extension site in Puerto Rico. He was named the 13th president of Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary in May 2021.

The Nyack campus was scheduled to close at the end of the 2018–2019 academic year, however delays in housing pushed that out to September 2020. As part of its restructuring, the college was renamed to Alliance University, removing the Nyack name after the sale of the former Nyack campus.

Nyack admissions is not selective with an acceptance rate of 97%. Students that get into Nyack have an average SAT score between 830-1080 and the ACT score range is 15-23. The regular admissions application deadline for Nyack is rolling.

Fear over future development on the 107-acre Nyack College campus, and the potential cost of fighting land-use lawsuits, ultimately swung many of the village's 1,982 registered voters to break with their long heritage in favor of gaining the financial muscle of Orangetown.
