Although the amount of supervision for each case must be responsive to individual client needs, 2 hours for every 10 hours of direct treatment is the general standard of care. When direct treatment is 10 hours per week or less, a minimum of 2 hours per week of case supervision is generally required.

Before providing any supervision, RBT Supervisors must complete a training based on the 8-hour Supervision Training Curriculum Outline.

Yes. RBTs are required to track supervision hours. More info is on page 17 of the RBT handbook on the BACB site, but essentially we need to keep a recording of supervision by a BCBA to ensure we're hitting 5% supervised hours of our total hours providing ABA intervention services.

You must have ongoing supervision from an RBT Supervisor or RBT Requirements Coordinator to practice as an RBT after you pass the certification examination.

How many times and what type of supervision contact does the BACB require? At least 2 face-to-face, real-time contacts per month. All of your supervision meetings must be individual.
