When the vehicle has a salvage title, it is not possible to register or drive the vehicle. However, some owners and those who buy salvage vehicles want to get the vehicles into drivable condition. You can begin registration and apply for a new title once this is done.

Walk-in: Although walk-in services are available, customers with an appointment will be given priority.

If the vehicle is exempt from having a title, you are required to provide the following: A bill of sale and a completed verification of vehicle identification (Form TDMV 19A) or a bill of sale and a copy of the previous vehicle registration certificate or title.

Once the vehicle is inspected and approved, a salvage decal is permanently attached to the vehicle; the owner is issued a salvage vehicle identification number verification report (DSMV 547). The owner can then go to his or her town/city clerk's office to register the vehicle and apply for a new title.

To register a vehicle owned by you, you must bring the title, along with proof of residency, to the town or city clerk's office where you reside.... The out-of-state registration. Lease agreement, if applicable. Lienholder's name and address. Proof of residency.

You will begin the registration process at the Town Clerk's office. For all transactions you will need ID and proof of residency. It is required that you bring in proof of identification such as a driver's license and two (2) proofs of residency.

A title is a secure document issued by the DMV which represents ownership of a motor vehicle. What vehicles are not required to be titled? New Hampshire does not title motor vehicles that have a model year of 1999 or older. Certain vehicles are considered "exempt."
