The report assesses the progress of all 193 UN Member States on the SDGs: This year, Finland, Sweden and Denmark top the rankings. In addition to overall scores, we also feature a spillover index that tracks countries' positive and negative impacts abroad.

The strategy puts forth four objectives for the Danish development and use of AI: Denmark should have a common ethical and human-centred basis for AI. Danish researchers should research and develop AI. Danish businesses should achieve growth through developing and using AI.

Through decades of extraordinary and sustainable efforts, Denmark has made a green energy system that delivers a cleaner everyday life and more green energy. All these efforts have helped Denmark rank first in Environmental Performance Index 2022.

With the city mainly powered by wind and solar energy, its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2025 is firmly on track. But the city also generates power from another renewable source – biomass. The city uses discarded wood, straw and refuse, along with human and animal waste to produce heat, electricity and biofuel.

Green initiatives in Copenhagen include offshore wind turbines in the Øresund Strait between Denmark and Sweden, an increasing number of electric busses, waste-removing initiatives and 'green wave' traffic lights for cyclists - with digital countdowns and footrests at junctions.

Considered one of the most sustainable cities in the world, Copenhagen has in total 546 km of bicycle paths, a fleet of electric harbour ferries and a majority of the hotel rooms around town are eco-certified.

Denmark also aims to continue to prevent and limit the spread of contaminating agents that are harmful to human health (SDG 3), and to maintain a strong agriculture and food industry (SDG 2) that continues to focus on sustainability and resource efficiency (SDG 15).
