Basic Combat Training (BCT) is a ten-week training course (not including the "Reception" week) where recruits go-through the process of becoming full- fledged Soldiers. Throughout the process the soldiers will learn new rules, learn to trust themself and understand what it means to be a Soldier in the U.S. Army.

Your Soldier has arrived safely at Fort Sill and will begin Basic Combat Training. During the ten-week training period, your Soldier will learn the basic skills that are required to survive and win on today's modern battlefield.

Combat Basic Training at Fort Sill is a ten-week long course designed to take recruits and make them into soldiers. You have classroom training dooring boot camp as well as hands-on learning with weapons, operations, and physical fitness.

Major General Ken Kamper is the Commanding General of the Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. MG Ken Kamper commissioned as an Artillery Officer in 1989 from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Fort Sill is a large installation. The total population in Fort Sill is about 53,000 including, 20,000 military and civilian personnel, and 33,000 military family members. There is a robust retiree community that is supported by Fort Sill.

In 1871, the General of the Army, William Tecumseh Sherman, as part of a country-wide Army post tour, was at Fort Sill and nearly killed during a quarrel with several Indians when he threatened to arrest them, although there was a peace policy ordered by President Grant.
