- Include a notepad and ensure that the pen and highlighter are laid out from left to right, with the pen cap facing you.
- The helmet should be worn, with the chin strap secured.

- Attach the 3x5 casualty feeder card and secure your canteen in your left cargo pocket. Ensure the tape has been cut cleanly across edges.
- Review that all uniform items are displayed as worn. Ensure all buttons, zippers, and snaps are completely fastened.
