A plan review is an opportunity to review how funded supports are working for participants to achieve their goals. The plan review process can commence up to three months prior to the review date of a participant's plan. This is standard practice.

We can explain the decision and our reasons. You may also ask for an internal review of the decision. This means that one of our staff, who wasn't involved in the original decision, will have a look and decide if that decision was right. There are a number of decisions we can review. We call these reviewable decisions.

An internal review of an NDIA decision: Once a decision is made that relates to any of these, it is possible to seek a review of that decision. This type of review is called a 'review of a reviewable decision' or RoRD or S100 review, as it falls under Section 100 of the Act.

S100 Review Within 3 months of that initial decision, you can request an Internal Review (done by a different delegate at NDIA). This is also called a Review of a Reviewable decision (RoRD) or a S100 review.

The NDIA can decide whether or not to conduct a plan review. If they decide not to, you can challenge that decision through an internal review. However, if you received your plan less than three months ago, it is important that you submit an internal review, rather than a plan review.

How long does a request to review a decision take? We aim to complete all internal reviews within 60 days from the day after we receive your request.
