What is PROBUS? A fellowship for all of its members and their families and the widows of past members as well. Our regular monthly meetings and numerous social activities are ideal for meeting new friends.

Membership New member joining fee (includes badge)$15Annual membership fee - per person$251 more row

YES Probus is a Community Service Activity of Rotary clubs. Probus is an association of retired and semi-retired people who join together in clubs, the basic purpose of which is to provide regular opportunities for them to keep their minds active, expand their interests and to enjoy the fellowship of new friends.

The major difference between Probus and Rotary is that Probus is not a Service Club and does not engage in fund raising or community sponsorship. Our Club is made up up of 100 or so members from all walks of life. It is also non-sectarian and non-political.

Probus Club members meet monthly, to enjoy the company of like-minded fellow retirees and listen to interesting guest speakers. Make new friends, learn a new skill, explore new interests and hobbies - there is so much to choose from when you become a member of your local Probus Club.

PROBUS is an acronym for PRO(fessional) and BUS(iness), and the clubs are specifically intended for active retirees. The first club was formed in 1966 by the Rotary Club of Caterham, England. In 1974, PROBUS expanded into New Zealand and by 1976 the idea had spread to Australia.

PROBUS Clubs are to: Be non-political and non-sectarian. Be non-profit making and non-fundraising. Be initially sponsored by another PROBUS Club or a Rotary club, using a HOW TO manual. Be not only for retired service club members. Use a distinctive lapel pin, and name badges to assist in friendship.
