Vital signs consist of: Temperature. Pulse rate. Blood pressure. Respiratory rate. Blood oxygen saturation via pulse oximetry. Vital signs can be influenced by a number of factors. It can vary based on age, time, gender, medication, or a result of the environment.

Vital Signs (Body Temperature, Pulse Rate, Respiration Rate, Blood Pressure) Body temperature. Pulse rate. Respiration rate (rate of breathing) Blood pressure (Blood pressure is not considered a vital sign, but is often measured along with the vital signs.)

[5] This method utilizes a sphygmomanometer, a device comprised of an inflatable cuff connected to a pressure gauge (generally a column of mercury). To measure an individual's blood pressure, the deflated cuff is placed around the arm and inflated sufficiently to occlude arterial flow.

The 7 Vital Signs are: Body Temperature. Pulse Rate. Respiration Rate. Blood Pressure. Blood Oxygen. Weight. Blood Glucose Level.

Palpatory method - Inflate the cuff rapidly to 70 mmHg, and increase by 10 mm Hg increments while palpating the radial pulse. Note the level of pressure at which the pulse disappears and subsequently reappears during deflation will be systolic blood pressure.

The six classic vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, height, and weight) are reviewed on an historical basis and on their current use in dentistry.

Normal vital sign ranges for the average healthy adult while resting are: Blood pressure: between 90/60 mmHg and 120/80 mmHg. Breathing: 12 to 18 breaths per minute. Pulse: 60 to 100 beats per minute. Temperature: 97.8°F to 99.1°F (36.5°C to 37.3°C); average 98.6°F (37°C)

Regidor and colleagues [25] found that BP was inversely associated with height, but not independently so, in a cross-sectional study of 4,009 men and women. Montgomery et al. [26], in a retrospective cohort study of 149 British men and women, found that height was inversely associated with blood pressure.
